Brazilian Keratin Treatments - A "Summer Must Have"

I'm sure you've heard all about Keratin treatments, and their amazing effects on hair.  I'm also sure most of you have heard about the negative sides of a Brazilian Keratin Treatment.  Let's talk about the Sunpure Straight Brazilian Keratin Treatment we use at The Beauty Box Salon:

Is there formaldehyde in the product?
Not at all.  The Sunpure Brazilian Keratin Treatment has no formaldehyde, formalin, or  aldehyde.  Yes, there are some keratin treatments on the market that still have these ingredients in them, and yes they are harmful. 
For years, Formaldehyde was in all sorts of cosmetic products, but science has since proven it's more harmful than good.  So, why risk putting a product on your hair that can cause such harm?  We made a commitment at The Beauty Box Salon to use a formaldehyde free product to keep our clients as well as ourselves out from harm's way. 

The Sunpure Keratin product is much safer than harsh chemical treatments, and leaves hair healthy because keratin is a natural conditioner.   Their formula is also enriched with botanical vitamins from plants, apple pulp and vanillin.

Is keratin good for your hair?
Definitely!  Keratin, the main ingredient in the system, is a protein that is naturally  found in hair skin and nails. As we age and chemically treat our hair, the keratin diminishes and this treatment replenishes it, giving your hair a beautifully renewed sheen that is still soft and manageable.

How long does it last?
Since this isn't a chemical that's put on your hair, it doesn't last forever.  Any treatment that advertises permenant results is either decieving, or a harsh chemical that will more than likely damage your hair severely.  This Keratin treatment is cumulative, meaning the more you have it done, the longer it lasts.  For your first treatment, you should expect solid results for 60-90 days.  For your second, 90-120 days.  By your third and beyond, you should refresh your treatment every 6-8 months.

Will I be able to curl my hair?
Definitely.  This is not going to chemically alter your hair to force it into being straight.  Think of it more as a smoothing system.  It will definitely tame frizzy, unruly hair, and give it a straighter natural wave pattern.  It will also cut the time you spend blow drying your hair significantly.  And It will keep your hair from getting frizzy in the summer's humidity, or on a summer vacation to the beach. 

Whether we're ready for it or not, summer is right around the corner!  As those of us from Dallas know, summers are BRUTAL.  All the heat and humidity...
